Ferrari is the most successful F1 team ever. Legendary driver Michael Schumacher was associated with Ferrari and together they were a force to reckon with in F1 racing.

Since its establishment in 1929, Ferrari has been among the best F1 teams in the world. In racing circle, it is known as the Scuderia Ferrari, translated as Team Ferrari. Michael Schumacher, one of the greatest drivers ever, served Ferrari during most part of his career.

Ferrari in F1
Enzo Ferrai founded the team in 1929. He and his team took part in a slew of competitions till 1950, when Grand Prix came into existence. Ferrari participated in the Formula One World Championship in the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix. Ferrari dominated the season winning all eleven events. After the 1951 Formula One season, Ferrari team withdrew from F1 causing the authorities to adopt Formula Two regulations. Ferrari performance was quite impressive in 1952 and 1953. However, in 1954, they were seriously challenged by Fangio and Mercedes-Benz. In 1957, a Ferrari car crashed into a crowd killing twelve people. Ferrari was dragged into court charged with manslaughter.

Decade of 1960 was not good for Ferrari at Formula One. However, it dominated races in other competitions. 1970s returned mixed results for the company. The team won constructors' title in 1983. Their performance in 1980s was little better than average. 1990s was promising for Ferrari. The dominance of Schumacher began in 1996 and remained the best driver in the world until he retired in 2006. In 2000s too, Ferrari was dominating.

Ferrari is the most successful F1 engine manufacturer.

In 1996, Ferrari made a landmark decision in its history by hiring two-time defending world champion Michael Schumacher for an astronomical salary of around $30 million a year. Schumacher won an array of Grand Prix races for Ferrari. He retired at the end of 2006 season.
