Before an F1 car enters racing arena, it undergoes
strict tests like impact testing, roll structure testing and static load
testing.
Impact Testing
Cars are run in high speed during Formula 1 races. The vehicles undergo
strict impact tests to ensure they meet the necessary safety standards.
These tests are carried out under FIA guidelines and in the presence of
an FIA technical delegate. During the testing, the focus is on car's
survival cell. It is the most important part of the vehicle because it
protects the driver. The cars' front, side and rear sides are also test.
The testers ensure that the structural damage is limited to impact
absorbing structures of the car.
Roll Structure Testing
The car should be safe in the case of a role. If there is an accident
and the car rolls over, the driver should be safe.
Static Load Testing
The survival cell must necessarily pass static load tests which ensure
that the structure of the car meets minimum strength requirements. The
nose and the rear impact structure of the car are also tested. The floor
below the fuel tank and the rim of the cockpit are also strictly tested.
F1 cars undergo rigorous testing before entering
racing arena. The cars are subjected to strict tests such as roll
structure testing, static load testing and impact testing.
