The F1 Grand Prix is the most celebrated event for motor sport lovers across the world. The 62nd edition of F1 Grand Prix, taking place in 2011, is a major event for the Indian motor sports lovers, because India is participating for the first time ever, in this prestigious car racing event. It is anticipated that the Indian circuit should be the fifth fastest car racing circuit in the world. Since it has a number of turns and corners, it will be exciting for the spectators to watch the event.
There are five world champions who are appearing on the grid this time. Before the actual F1 Grand Prix Championship, there are a number of pre- season races, which are organized to give a chance to the upcoming racers. The pre-season races give the constructors a chance to evaluate the new talent and buy the performers for the main event. This is popularly called the 'Young Driver Test'. The pre- testing season started just after the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit. Each constructor has two main drivers racing for him. The number of reserve drivers chosen for the races can vary from constructor to constructor.
The Young Driver Tests this time were followed by another testing session. These tests also took place at Yas Marina Circuit. During the tests too, the tires were supplied by Pirelli, the official tyre supplier for F1 Grand Prix 2011. All the drivers were satisfied with the performance of the tires, especially keeping in mind the short timeframe during which Pirelli developed these tyres. The concluding test of the season was at first planned to be held in Bahrain. However, it was cancelled by the Bahraini Crown Prince due to a political rebellion in the island nation. It was instead rescheduled to the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona from 8 -12 March 2011. Given below are the teams partaking in the 2011 F1 Grand Prix.
